It is our best intention to bring Higher Ground Festival back to a NYC park's stage offered free to the community as we have done in the past, however with the present Covid crisis please be patient as we navigate this time to produce respectfully under the CDC, Federal, and State health guidelines. In 2020, we did produce a highly successful virtual performance series on a Washington Heights rooftop, so pivoting options are in place.
Please find below the application options for the 2021 Higher Ground Festival. You may as apply as a New Artist or if you have participated before then apply as a Returning Artist.
MEET & GREETS
After applications are reviewed by the HG Festival's Board, accepted artists will be invited to HG Meet & Greets at local venues or via Zoom.
The Meet & Greets are designed for neighborhood artists of all disciplines to connect & network, and begin discussing potential collaborations.
Artists who already know their collaborating partner(s) must attend at least (1) Meet & Greet.
Final HG Premieres Proposals are due in April (date to be confirmed).
Each collaboration must have at least 2 lead artists of differing disciplines.
The project must be a stage performance based.
The project must be respectful of the venue & family friendly audience.
The formal announcement of accepted HG Premieres projects will be made End of April, 2021.
Each HG Premieres collaboration must have at least 2 Lead Artists of differing disciplines, and it must be a stage-based production.
Chosen HG Premieres will each receive HG Festival provided local workspace (if allowed under health guidelines), a $500 project stipend, non profit benefits, and artistic advisory (if requested).
Lead Artists will have full responsibility of scheduling, maintaining project progression, disbursement of stipend and producing a polished final product.
If a collaboration is in need of addtional artists, aka actors, dancers, musicians, then Lead Artists will have access to our database of applicants who applied as "Participating Artists".
HG Festival Directors will conduct check-ins of the project's progress during the months of July and August.
HG Premieres must be presented August 2021.
